The competition was open to former professional cyclists, and experienced cycling enthusiasts, among others. It's categorized into four age groups. The event options included races of 78, 94, and 109 kilometers, in which competitors rode around the Garden Ring Road in Moscow for five, six and seven laps respectively, with an average speed of 35 kilometers per hour. Keirin race reaps record betting return

FUKUI, Japan - The top three long shots paid out 2,340,220 yen on a 100-yen wager at a keirin race on April 12, the highest-ever return in the history of professional cycling in Japan. All combinations of 6-7-4 -- cyclists who finished 1-2-3 respectively in a race at the Fukui cycle-race track in Fukui Prefecture -- broke the previous record of 1,857,600 yen set in July 2002 in Aomori Prefecture.
